Bob Nightengale believes the Blue Jays are very interested in Anthony Santander
According to Nightengale, the Blue Jays will need to seriously overpay if they plan on landing big name free agents such as Max Fried, Corbin Burnes and Anthony Santander, who they are apparently extremely interested in.
They will have to make easily the highest offer if they're successful in landing in Burnes or Fried, along with outfielder Anthony Santander, whom they badly covet. -Nightengale
Bob's latest #BlueJays :
The Blue Jays are in need of an outfielder who can hit the ball which is why Santander seems to be at the top of their list with his career best 44 homeruns and 102 RBIs this past season.
Nightengale says the #BlueJays «badly covet» Santander.
The risk that comes with going after Santander is that the many MLB executives believe that Santander will not be able to put up the same kind of numbers again which means whoever signs him will end up overpaying.
Since Nightengale believes the Blue Jays will have to overpay to land big name free agents, in Santander's situation, they will be paying more than a top team plus will not get their money's worth out of the contract which makes Santander a big risk.
