The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to have one of their best rosters in recent memory on opening day next season, with names like Kyle Tucker thrown into the mix, it makes one wonder, what will Davis Schneider's role be on the team?

Schneider and Nathan Lukes split time in the World Series run, but both are at risk of losing their spot.

Will Schneider get enough playing time in 2026?

Chris Georges of Blue Jays Nation discussed the potential setbacks Davis Schenider might have to face next season, depending on who the Blue Jays sign.
If their roster becomes that much better, there may not be a place for him throughout the course of the season.
"It is doubtful that the Jays would be looking at giving the New Jersey native a full-time spot, but it wouldn't be shocking to see him start 60 or so games again, as he did in 2025. Of course, his role will be dictated by what free agents may be brought into town over the coming months."-Georges

Free agent names like Kyle Tucker and Kyle Schwarber being heavily linked to the Blue Jays right now, they may not need Schneider's bat utility, they would have more use from a defensively talented player or a pinch-runner.
"Schneider's biggest strength is the patient approach that allowed him to walk at a whopping 15.9% clip in 2025. He would be a great candidate to fill in for an injury and start for a stretch of games at some point during the upcoming season. However, without a starter going down with an injury, playing time may be a bit more erratic for him."-Georges

Schneider will have to evolve his game if he wants to remain useful to the Blue Jays. Otherwise he may find himself on the bench often or traded to another team.
