Toronto Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins decide to make a surprising move when he trade rookie Spencer Horwitz to the Cleveland Guardians last off-season and it looks like Horwitz took it personally.

Horwitz was part of the trade that helped the Blue Jays land second baseman Andres Gimenez but the Guardians then turned around and traded Horwitz to the Pirates the same day.

Spencer Horwitz out to prove the Blue Jays and Ross Atkins wrong

The former Blue Jays rookie started the 2025 season on IL then returned to play in late May and struggled a bit out of the gate but Horwitz has since turned things around.
So far this season, Horwitz has 5 homeruns, 32 RBIs, a .259 batting average and .329 on base percentage in 66 games but has been really stepping up his game lately.
Since the All-Star Break, Horwitz has really stepped into his own as he has 3 homeruns, a .357 batting average and a 1.027 OPS in 56 at bats.
Spencer Horowitz post-ASB:

56 ABs
3 HRs
4 2B
.357 BA
1.027 OPS

He really turned the page with the bat. Hope he can keep it up!
GRAND SLAM ALERT FROM SPENCER HORWITZ
Last season with the Blue Jays, Horwitz had a very solid rookie season with 12 homeruns and 40 RBIs but it looks like Atkins thought that the team was better off with Gimenez.
As Gimenez continues to deal with injury issues, hopefully Horwitz does not end up proving the Blue Jays wrong in making this trade.
