The Chicago White Sox announced yesterday that they have released former fan favorite Toronto Blue Jays utility man Brandon Drury.

The MLB can be a very cutthroat league as even player with a ton of experience can be released rather quickly if they are not performing which is how Drury landed as a free agent once again.

The White Sox announced yesterday that they decided to released utility man Brandon Drury from his minor league contract yesterday after coming off the injured list only a week ago.
According to the MLB transaction tracker, the Chicago White Sox have released utility man Brandon Drury from his minor league deal after being added to the injured list a week ago. -Brauner

Drury really did not play much this season in the minors after suffering a wrist injury in late April after he was hit by a pitch and it looks like the White Sox did not see it worth it to keep him under contract.
Beginning the season with Triple-A Charlotte, Drury has not played a game since late April after suffering a wrist injury when he was hit by a pitch. -Brauner

The former Blue Jays utility man players two and a half seasons in Toronto with his best season coming in 2019 where he hit 15 homeruns and 41 RBIs in 120 games on the season.
He played just eight games in the 2018 season, but he played the majority of 2019 with 120 games logged. Unfortunately though, it was one of the worst seasons of his career, slashing .218/.262/.380, though he did hit 15 home runs and collect 41 RBI while playing both in the infield and outfield. -Brauner

Drury had back to back seasons of over 25 homeruns in 2022 and 2023 which is why there is a good chance that another team ends up giving him a chance.
Hopefully he will land a new deal since he clearly still has some fuel in the tank.
