The Texas Rangers announced that they have agreed to a deal with former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Billy McKinney on a minor league contract.
Rangers sign former Blue Jays outfielder Billy McKinney
McKinney has had a very tough time so far this season as he has now been DFA'd twice as the Rangers announced last week and after clearing waiver he elected free agency.
OF Billy McKinney, who was designated for assignment on Friday, has declined an outright assignment and elected free agency.
After spending only one day as a free agent, McKinney decided to return to the Rangers as the two parties agree on a minor league deal and they assigned his to the Round Rock Express.

McKinney will now try once again to get things done in Texas as he has only appeared in two games in the majors this season in which he has 1 hit in 7 at bats with a .143 batting average.
The best season of McKinney's career was actually in Toronto during the 2019 season when he finished with 12 homeruns, 28 RBIs and a .215 batting average in 84 games.
McKinney spent two and a half seasons in Toronto between 2018 and 2020 when he was DFA'd by the Blue Jays in September and picked up off waivers by the Milwaukee Brewers.
2025 has not been easy on McKinney but hopefully this time in Texas he will be able to find a more permanent place in the organization.
