The Toronto Blue Jays have been trying to close free agent Alex Bregman but it looks like he has narrowed his final list of teams down and the Blue Jays have no made the cut.
Free agent Alex Bregman narrows down final list and leaves the Blue Jays off of it
The Blue Jays apparently made an offer to Bregman on a six year term which the length he has been looking for even though the amount of money offered has yet to be announced.
According to MLB insider Randy Mcllvoy, Bregman decided last night to narrow down his list with the final teams being the Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs and Boston Red Sox.
Today Alex Bregman reportedly narrowed his list of finalists to 3. Cubs, Red Sox & Tigers. I believe he will go short term with an opt out. Thoughts #Astros fans ? Ready to turn the page?
Alex Bregman is likely to land with the Red Sox, Cubs or Tigers soon, according to @Buster_ESPN
This means that the Blue Jays and Houston Astros are officially out unless they somehow managed to make him an incredible offer that pulls him back in which seems unlikely at this point.
Letting Bregman go elsewhere seems like a massive mistake by the Blue Jays who are still looking to add more offense which Bregman could have definitely helped with.
At this point it looks like the Blue Jays only chance of adding a top tier player before Spring Training is through a trade.
