Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer had a terrible season in 2024 and has been off to a rocky start in Spring Training but does not seem worried about it all.
Blue Jays George Springer is not worried about his slow start in Spring Training
Springer has been terrible at the plate so far in Spring Training as he currently has a .111 batting average with a .333 on base percentage and 3 hits along with 2 RBIs and 0 homeruns.
In a recent interview with Keegan Matheson, Springer stated that he is not worried at all about his game lately and even added that he feels great despite his numbers being awful.
«I feel great, actually,» Springer said. «For me, it's about the process. It's not about the results. I want to make sure that I'm swinging at the right pitches and getting my swing off. Yeah, obviously everyone would like to see the ball hit the grass, but for me specifically, I'm working on the mechanical side of it.» -Springer
Springer still holds the record for biggest Blue Jays contract in team history with a 6 year $150 million deal but unfortunately him and the team has fallen very short of expectations as they have yet to get a post season win since he joined.
Springer is entering the fifth year of his six-year, $150 million deal that still stands as the biggest in franchise history. The plan was that, by now, there would be a few deep postseason runs to look back on. The Blue Jays are still chasing their first postseason win since 2016, though. -Matheson
The Blue Jays seem to be in a tough spot with Springer since he has become one of their worst players but for some reason no one including Spring himself seem to be worried about that.
It will be interesting to see how Springer does this season and how much the Blue Jays are willing to put up with if he continues to struggle.
