The Toronto Blue Jays were expecting George Springer to be in the Buffalo Bisons lineup this evening for his rehab assignment but there seems to have a been a setback.
Earlier, Blue Jays manager John Schneider said, "he's going to go through everything. I think there still needs to be some tests done to see if he can get cleared for today."
Andres Gimenez, meanwhile, continues his rehab assignment.
While this is an unfortunate setback for Springer in his recovery, the fact that he is clearly close to doing his rehab assignment means he should be back in the Blue Jays lineup during their next series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Schneider will likely have more details and give a follow up update on Springer after the Blue Jays series closing game against the Rockies.
The Blue Jays currently lead 3-1 in the top of the 5th inning.
