The Toronto Blue Jays announced a surprising update regarding George Springer's concussion tonight as it looks like he might be back sooner than expected.
Blue Jays announce update on George Springer's rehab assignment
Blue Jays manager John Schneider spoke to the media before tonight's game against the Colorado Rockies and stated that Springer has been running, hitting and is continuing to get better.
Andres Gimenez began a rehab assignment with triple-A Buffalo tonight, while George Springer did not.
Asked about tomorrow, Blue Jays manager John Schneider said: "We'll see. He ran. He hit. Continues to feel better every day. So see how he wakes up and go from there."
MLB insider Keegan Matheson also added on the subject that if Springer passes the MLB concussion tests and everything goes well during his rehab assignment, he will likely only play one game in Triple-A before returning to the lineup.
It sounds like George Springer will play tomorrow with Triple-A Buffalo. If all goes well (and he passes MLB's concussion tests), he may just need that one rehab game. #BlueJays
Once Springer hit IL with a concussion, many thought he would be out for longer but it looks like he will surprisingly be back ahead of schedule.
This is great news for Toronto who has been dealing with a lot of injuries and finally got a break as this is one of the few that did not end up being as bad as it seemed.
