It's been almost one year since Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette hit a home run and during their game against the Cleveland Guardians he broke that long drought.
Prior to today's contest, it was on May 27th, 2024, that Bichette hit his last home run which is a huge sigh of relief for the shortstop and for the organization as the Blue Jays are searching for more long ball offense and general consistency.

First pitch, first home run of the season for Bo Bichette
The fight for offensive consistency from Bichette and the rest of the Blue Jays has become priority as the team continues to find itself on a rollercoaster over the past several weeks.
The team has gone through several series where they've either swept or taken 2 out of three games and then be swept less than one week later due to the lack of offense and earned runs along with the wobbling starting rotation that is feeling the pressure due to the lack of depth.
That depth was addressed yesterday when general manager Ross Atkins signed two veteran pitchers who will come in to help alleviate some of the strain especially to the starting rotation and some of the relief pitching.
Bichette still has hope of new contract with Blue Jays
Bichette, who was one of the storylines this past offseason as he does not have a new contract still is hopeful that the Blue Jays will contact him and have contract negotiations which will lead to a new deal.
Many are unsure if the Blue Jays are just waiting to see how his season transpires considering he had a tough year last year with injuries.
But his underlying numbers overall certainly dictates a new deal with the Blue Jays as he would work alongside his best friend Vladimir Guerrero junior as the face of the Blue Jays with Atkins adding players to help build around both superstars.
The Blue Jays will play their final game against the guardians at Rogers Centre before the team heads back out on the road and head out west to take on the Los Angeles Angels and a rematch with the Seattle Mariners in the Emerald City.
