Toronto Blue Jays Jeff Hoffman admitted to be frustrated when the team traded him before he could even make the MLB, but now it all makes sense as he signed with the Blue Jays last season to be their closer.
Jeff Hoffman was selected ninth overall by the Blue Jays in 2014, he had aspirations of being a starting pitcher but has settled into becoming a great closer.
Jeff Hoffman did not understand why he was traded from the Blue Jays, but he does now.
Colton Pankiw of the Daily Hive covered Hoffman's story and journey in the MLB. He was a highly touted prospect and never got his chance with the Blue Jays but all that changed when he signed with the team as a free agent.
"Hoffman's time with the Blue Jays organization was short-lived, however, as he was part of a package sent to the Colorado Rockies in 2015 that saw shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and reliever LaTroy Hawkins head to Toronto."-Pankiw
Hoffman admitted on a recent edition of Foul Territory that he was quite frustrated when he was traded, and didn't understand why the Blue Jays didn't take more time seeing how he would develop.
"It's an amazing full circle, when you think about it. Everything obviously happens for a reason, and everything's going to be hopefully good at the end of the day. Going through that time, obviously, the Blue Jays were really good, and I was really excited to be a part of the organization. To see them go on and make some noise in the playoffs that year was tough.»-Hoffman
Now Hoffman has the opportunity to do something he always dreamed of, winning a World Series, and better yet with the team that drafted him. Who knows it may end up coming down to the final inning and all eyes on the Blue Jays closer to finish the job for them.
