The ALCS is only a few days away and the Toronto Blue Jays have some big decisions to make when it comes to their starting rotation which could see a few surprises.
Toronto had a lot of up and downs when it comes to their pitchers last series which many result in some big changes for the ALCS.
Blue Jays starting rotation plans for the ALCS
What made the Jays' series-clinching win on Wednesday so impressive was the fact that they did it without a starting pitcher. They chose to only have Kevin Gausman, Trey Yesavage, and Shane Bieber on their roster, which meant they needed to go with a bullpen day in Game 4. -Pankiw
Shane Bieber on the other hand will also likely get back into the starting rotation despite having a very rough time in game 3 as he only lasted 2.2 innings before getting pulled.
As for Game 3, Bieber will likely get the call once again despite a rough performance in his start versus the Yankees. -Pankiw
Against the Yankees, the Blue Jays decided to go with 3 starting pitchers but it was only a best of 5 series which is why this time around they might ended up going with 4 or 5 since it is a best of 7.
There is a good chance that Chris Bassitt is included on the roster this time around as it will be extremely difficult for the Blue Jays to make things work with only 3 pitchers.
The 36-year-old Bassitt was left off the ALDS roster due in large part to a back injury he suffered late in the season. It sounds as though he was healthy enough to pitch, but the Jays elected to give him some more time to rest in hopes of reaching the ALCS. -Pankiw
The Blue Jays still have a few days to reach their decision but it should be interesting to see how they end up going about it.
