Blue Jays are looking for payback in a World Series rematch against the Dodgers tonight as the lineup has been announced for the first game of the series.
Toronto's posted lineup says plenty about how Schneider wants to attack this one. The Blue Jays are loading up their right-handed bats early against Dodgers left-hander Justin Wrobleski.
George Springer leads off as the designated hitter, with Davis Schneider batting second in left field. Guerrero hits third at first base, right where Toronto wants its best middle-order threat.
Kazuma Okamoto slots cleanup at third, and Ernie Clement follows in the 5 spot at second base. That gives Toronto 5 straight right-handed hitters to open the order.
That part stands out against a lefty starter carrying a 6.75 ERA into Rogers Centre. Schneider did not hide from the matchup. He pushed his right-handed bats to the top and made Wrobleski work through traffic early.
Daulton Varsho bats sixth in center, Myles Straw hits seventh in right, Tyler Heineman catches in the 8 hole, and Andrés Giménez rounds it out at shortstop. It is not a star-heavy bottom third, but it is built for range and pressure on the bases.
The batting order shows Toronto's plan right away
This lineup is really about balance through the first 6 spots. Springer, Davis Schneider, Guerrero, Okamoto, Clement, and Varsho give Toronto a mix of contact, pull power, and left-right disruption before the order thins out.
There is also a clear trust signal in keeping Guerrero in the middle against a 7-2 Dodgers club. In a game like this, the Blue Jays are not dancing around their identity. They are handing the inning to Guerrero and asking the offense to move through him.
The pitching matchup adds even more weight. Max Scherzer gets the ball for Toronto at 7:07 PM, bringing a 1-0 record and 1.50 ERA into one of the Blue Jays' toughest tests of the young season.
That makes the lineup card more than a pregame note. It is a small window into how Schneider sees this matchup, and it says he wants Toronto swinging from a position of strength instead of waiting around.
The visual from the club's post fits that tone. The lineup graphic puts Springer and Guerrero at the center, with Toronto's right-handed core stacked high before the bottom third shifts toward defense and versatility.
For a Blue Jays team sitting at 4-5, that matters. A marquee series against Los Angeles can swing the mood around the clubhouse fast, and tonight's lineup says Schneider is treating Game 1 like a statement spot.
