The Blue Jays pitcher Yariel Rodriguez has a lot of up and downs this season but it looks like Toronto still has some big plans for him next year.

Manager John Schneider spoke on Rodriguez future with the team stating that he they like what they have seen from the pitcher and he is benefitting from battling through struggles this year. He added that they believe Rodriguez will benefit from a full off-season training with the team.

“Ideally that's the plan,” said manager John Schneider. “This is around the target that we had hoped for in terms of innings. What he's doing in between (outings) I think is really important. We'll continue to navigate it, we'll continue to monitor it. Going through this now is beneficial for him. And if we can set him up to where, yeah, he's on a normal five-day routine and if you get that off-season planning, that's going to be great for him, great for us.”

Clearly the Blue Jays hoped Rodriguez would be able to step into a full time role as a starting pitcher this season but it is no surprise that he has struggled a bit after not playing at all last season.
