MLB insider Jon Heyman says that Kyle Tucker could pick the Toronto Blue Jays as soon as Thursday.

That's the word making the rounds this morning, with Heyman suggesting a deal could come as soon as today. If it doesn't land Thursday, the expectation from people around the process is that it's still close.
The juiciest part is the human part. Heyman added that some of Tucker's former teammates believe he'd «prefer Toronto over an even bigger market,» which is not something you hear every day in a superstar chase.
Jon Heyman reported this morning that a Kyle Tucker deal could come as soon as today.

He also stated that some of Tucker's ex teammates believe that he would «prefer Toronto over an even bigger market».
It also fits the shape of this bidding war. Toronto's pitch has leaned on long-term security, while the New York Mets have been tied to shorter-term, high-dollar aggression, and everyone is trying to guess what Tucker values most.

Kyle Tucker decision puts Toronto Blue Jays on edge

I can feel the fanbase refreshing feeds like it's trade deadline, because this is the swing we've begged them to take and it could end up being the Blue Jays biggest signing in free agent history.
On the field, Tucker checks every box this roster keeps missing in big spots. Last season he put up 22 homers, 25 steals, a .266 average, and an .841 OPS over 500 at-bats.
That blend matters in October baseball, when one extra baserunner changes an inning. Tucker is a left-handed threat who can still beat you when the power isn't showing, because he can run and he can grind.
Toronto also gets a cleaner lineup look with a true impact lefty, and you stop asking the same right-handed bats to solve every late-inning matchup. That's not a shot at anyone, it's just roster math.
The risk, of course, is term and aging, especially if the Jays really are ready to go long. But the upside is the kind of player you build a whole identity around, not just a «nice add.»
If we don't get the news Thursday, Friday starts to feel like the deadline for the drama to finally break, and for the Blue Jays to learn whether this winter ends with a headline or a sigh.
Adding a bat like Tucker could turn into the difference maker for the Blue Jays and truly put them at the top of the rankings heading into the 2026 season.
