The Toronto Blue Jays are still in negotiations with free agent outfielder Anthony Santander and it looks like things have are getting closer to closing a deal.
The Blue Jays have apparently raised their offer to free agent Anthony Santander
The Blue Jay seem to be right on the edge of signing Santander over the past week as most insiders have listed them as the top team to land him this off-season as they have made the biggest offer so far.
According to reports, the Blue Jays have now raised their offer from $82 million which is likely a 5 year deal around $100 million, likely a little less since that is what he is looking for.
I was told that Jays have adjusted their offer to Santander during their conversations this past weekend - and that's why they expect an answer on it this week.
I'm in the process of digging - likely higher AAV to get around the term wanted.
We have arbs coming up - will be a busy end of week - so I'm not going to get myself in trouble by adding any more specifics to the timeline - news as is.
The Blue Jays are expecting to close Santander in the coming days after raising their offer which seems to be around the number he is looking for with the correct term which hopefully means a deal will get done.
If the Blue Jays can land Santander, they will have finally made one solid signing this off-season and it will hopefully get the ball rolling for more deals to get done.
Atkins has been taking his time so far this off-season and hopefully this signing will be the beginning of big things in the off-season.
