Toronto Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro spoke to the media this afternoon about his expiring contract making some interesting comments.

Many have been wondering online if this incredible season has been enough for the Blue Jays to re-sign Shapiro or if the last 9 years were bad enough to get rid of him.

During an interview this afternoon, Shapiro spoke on how he believes that it is not appropriate to speak on his contract but added that he wants to stay in Toronto and that shockingly ownership has already told him they want him to stay as well.
Blue Jays prez/CEO Mark Shapiro, whose contract expires after season, on his future: «It's not appropriate for me to comment beyond the fact thatI want to remain here and I can also say that both Edward (Rogers) and Tony (Staffieri) have been reciprocal in that desire.»
The surprising part in all of this is that Shapiro starts off by stating that he does not believe it is appropriate to speak on the subject but then answers on behalf on ownership which many found strange.
Mark Shapiro wouldn't comment on contract negotiations with Rogers but said:

«I want to remain here, and I can also say that both Edward (Rogers) and Tony (Staffieri) have been reciprocal in that desire.» #BlueJays
The Blue Jays are having an incredible season as they currently lead the American League East and are one of the best teams in baseball but some fans believe that unless they win the World Series, ownership should look to change things up.
I love being in 1st place, however I'd still like to see a change in management at the top. This will be their 10th season in charge. I'd try to lure Andrew Friedman as CEO, Alex Anthopoulos, Matthew Silverman...all of them are Presidents but not CEO's. I'd triple their salaries.
While this season has been great, Shapiro has made a lot of costly mistakes over the years which fans have not forgotten about.
