The Toronto Blue Jays had their first loss in a long time at the Rogers Centre to the New York Yankees yesterday and Max Scherzer did not hold back during his post game interview with Hazel Mae.

The Blue Jays currently hold first place in the American League East even with last night's loss to New York as they still sit 3 games ahead of the Yankees and 6 games ahead of the Boston Red Sox.

Max Scherzer is hard on himself with Hazel Mae after loss to the Yankees

Scherzer was on the mound for Toronto yesterday after quite a few days of rest thanks to the All-Star break but that did not help him as he ended up pitching 5 inning, giving up 5 earned runs and only striking out 4 batters.
After the game, Hazel Mae spoke to Scherzer about his performance in which he stated that he was frustrated that he was not able to put the ball where he wants it and believes he needs to do a better job when it comes to executing his pitches.
Max Scherzer was frustrated with not being able to locate his pitches:

«I have to put the ball where I want to. I have to execute better. this comes down to location...I don't think this is going back to the drawing board. I think my pitches are there, so that's the good news»
Despite being harsh on himself, Scherzer had some big praises for his teammates as he believes they put up a great effort in battling until the end even if they still came up short late in the game.
«Saying that, our team fought hard. We were down, and we fought our way back into that ballgame. Guys are competing all across the diamond offensively and defensively. Hats off to the guys, and we got good innings out of the bullpen again tonight. I put them in a tough spot by giving up four runs, but the rest of the team did their job. The guys are out there fighting. We're a great team. They're a great team.» -Scherzer

The Blue jays ended up with a tough loss but still managed to be in the game against a very strong Yankees team and a 5-1 record in their last 6 games against New York is far from bad.
