Toronto Blue Jays prospect Gabriel Martinez made headlines last night in Double-A for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats with the catch of the year.

The Fisher Cats have not made many headlines since pitcher Alek Manoah moved up to Triple-A with the Buffalo Bisons to continue his rehab assignment.

The Fisher Cats were up 5-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Martinez tracked down a ball in centerfield and leaped towards the wall while catching the ball over his shoulder.
After the game, the MiLB posted on social media stating that Martinez' catch is in contention for catch of the year.

prospect got the stamp of approval from Platinum Glove Award winner Kevin Kiermaier:
Everyone seems to be amazed by Martinez' catch as even former Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier spoke on it stating that it was one of the top 15 plays he has ever seen live.

Martinez has been having a solid year so far in 2025 as he started off the season in High-A with the Vancouver Canadians and has now moved up to Double-A in New Hampshire.

Overall, Martinez has 2 homeruns, 19 RBIs, a .228 batting average and .311 on base percentage in 73 games this season.
