The MLB season is almost over as the top teams prepare for the playoffs, the Milwaukee Brewers surprisingly announced that they have designated former Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Joel Payamps for assignment.
Former Blue Jay Joel Payamps DFA'd by the Brewers
Payamps has had a very rough 2025 season as the Brewers announced that they have designated him for assignment for the second time this season.
The Milwaukee Brewers designated for assignment veteran right-handed pitcher Joel Payamps on Saturday afternoon before their game against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Payments has DFA'd in May by the Brewers but ended up sticking around as he accepted the assignment and was sent to Triple-A.
A flurry of moves including the DFA of Joel Payamps
Payamps has been having a tough time this season as he currently has a 7.23 ERA in 23.2 innings pitched this season with only 22 strikeouts in a total of 28 games.
The chances of Payamps finding another contract at this point in the season are very slim but he should be able to land a new deal in the off-season.
Despite Payamps numbers being very low this season, just last year he had a 3.05 ERA in 59 innings pitched with 6 saves for the Brewers.
Payamps did not spend much time with the Blue Jays but during his short stint in 2021 he was very solid as he finished with a 2.70 ERA in 30 innings pitched before being traded to the Kansas City Royals.
