The Milwaukee Brewers had a less than memorable NLCS against the LA Dodgers, getting swept in 4 games, now they turn their attention to free agency, and they have eyes on Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt.

Bassitt is set to become a free agent this winter, and the Blue Jays are going to struggle signing all of their free agents, so Bassitt may find a new home.

TJ French of Sporting News reported on the aspirations of the Brewers after being eliminated from the postseason, having more depth in their starting pitcher rotation seems to be a big piece and Chris Bassitt is definitely a solid option.
"Considering Bassitt's age, Milwaukee could look to sign Bassitt on a one- or two-year deal, and he would provide a strong veteran presence for some of Milwaukee's young arms. Chris Bassitt started 31 games this season and over 170.1 innings, posting a 3.96 ERA and 166 strikeouts. He has been one of the more consistent starting pitchers in baseball over the past four seasons."-French

Bleacher Report writer Kerry Miller suggested pursuing Bassitt does come with a couple problems since he is going to be 37 years old next season and his ERA is approaching the 4 mark. On the bright side he will not be too expensive, and at most should sign a 2 year deal.
"Might be aiming a little too expensive with this suggestion, but Bassitt will turn 37 before next season begins and has both an ERA and a FIP slightly north of 4.00 since the beginning of 2024."-Miller

The Toronto Blue Jays have a few key signings to make most notably Bo Bichette, and they will definitely have to let go of some free agents which is why Bassitt will likely leave.
