MLB cancels game between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees
The MLB was pushing hard to follow the NFL with the international games in other countries outside the U.S, the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees were supposed to play in London next season, but that will no longer come to fruition due to scheduling conflicts.
The game was supposed to be played at West Ham's stadium of the English Premier League but they unfortunately have their season finale too close to the scheduled series.
London MLB series cancelled for Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees.
"MLB circled June 13 and 14 as potential dates for the American League East teams to face each other at West Ham's Olympic Stadium. However, West Ham's Premier League finale against Leeds will take place on May 24, which didn't leave enough time to convert the field to baseball."-Polacek
Fox also did not have any broadcasting slots available because June is when the World Cup begins, unfortunately baseball took a backseat to soccer for 2026.
However it does not mean the MLB will never go back to Europe, the MLB still remains hopeful that it will happen
""We remain interested in Europe. We think London is an important jumping off point for us," Manfred said. "We have a facility that has come a long way since the first Yankee-Red Sox game. It's a much better ballpark now than it was due to their willingness to make investments in that. We continue to believe that there's an opportunity there and that we can get at the developed economies in Europe through that London entree."-Manfred
Unfortunately baseball fans overseas will have to wait until at least 2027 for that to take place.
It would have been the perfect timing for this series as both teams are atop the AL East this season, but alas we will have to remain patient for European baseball.
