MLB insider Jeff Passan went on Sportnets recently to discusses the Toronto Blue Jays record breaking acquisition of 14 year old Angel Montas.
Jeff Passan explains the Blue Jays new agreement with Angel Montas
Pass went on Sportsnet 590 the Fan with Jeff Blair and Kevin Barker to discuss
Montas' new verbal agreement with the Blue Jays with a signing bonus of $5.7 million.
According to Passan, the Blue Jays and Montas have reached a verbal agreement but that he is only part of the class of 2029 meaning that no deal can get signed before then.
Passan explains the $5.7 million offer and verbal agreement the Jays have reportedly made with 14-year-old Dominican player Angel Montas. A lot can happen between now and his official eligibility as part of the class of 2029 ....
A verbal agreement often sticks when it comes to international free agents but Montas can always walk away sometime in the next few years.
If Toronto does end up landing him, fans are very excited because it looks like Montas might be a future star in the MLB one day as he is already a very impressive hitter is 6'4 at only 14 years old.
Angel Montas. The Future?
The Blue Jays often take a lot of heat for their farm system but at the same time, between Trey Yesavage, Arjun Nimmala, Alan Roden and possibly Montas down the line, they are starting to build quite the talent pool.
