The MLB released their power rankings heading into the 2026 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers in first followed by the Toronto Blue Jays.
Friday's drop from MLB.com, rolled out with the MLB x Traveller Whiskey tag, put the Dodgers right back on top to start 2026. It feels like the default setting now after they just won back to back World Series.
The case is simple: they are the two-time defending champs, and the roster still wins in bunches. Los Angeles went 93-69 last season and beat Toronto in a seven-game World Series.
Even with real «older lineup» questions, the numbers stayed loud in 2025. The Dodgers scored 825 runs, allowed 683, and finished plus-142, that's a bully profile.
The Blue Jays end up being ranked second in MLB power rankings
The Blue Jays sit in second, and it's not a pity spot after that fall Classic. The Blue Jays won 94 games in 2025, and MLB.com notes the club already added Dylan Cease and Kazuma Okamoto.

Seattle at No. 3 is the sneaky one that keeps sticking with me, because 90 wins and a division flag is not a fluke. The Phillies at No. 4 also bring a 96-win baseline into any October conversation.
And don't ignore Milwaukee just because they're sixth in this list, the Brewers had the best record in baseball at 97-65 with a plus-172 run differential. That's not a team you want to see after a long summer.
The biggest surprise by far is the Baltimore Orioles sitting at number 9 after they did not even make the playoffs last year and finished last in the division but after a bunch of big signings this winter, they have moved up quite a bit.
Power rankings are a snapshot, not a prophecy, and the Hot Stove is still moving. But heading into the season today, I'm still writing Dodgers at No. 1, and daring someone to knock the pen out of my hand.
