The Toronto Blue Jays were thought to have made a mistake taking on Myles Straw last year, but he proved his keep as the season progressed.

Unfortunately it will likely not be enough to stay with the Blue Jays in the coming years, with talks of Kyle Tucker and/or Cody Bellinger joining the team, plus Daulton Varsho and Anthony Santander higher up on the depth chart, Straw won't get enough reps in the outfield to justify his contract.
Straw was notorious for being a great guy in the locker room, and a defensive asset in the outfield for the Blue Jays.

Will Myles Straw have a spot on the Blue Jays?

Ben Wrixon of Blue Jays Nation reported on the Straw situation in Toronto. Despite his surprising contributions to the team last year, he may be running out of time to make his case to stay on the team at the end of next season.
"Straw is set to make $7 million in 2026, then has club options worth $8 and $8.5 million for 2027 and 2028, respectively, even with the Guardians covering $1 million of each year. Unfortunately, it's hard to see the Blue Jays exercising them at that price, especially with their current wealth of outfield options and because Cleveland is also on the hook for his $1.75 million buyout following the 2026 season. "-Wrixon

The Blue Jays have Daulton Varsho, Anthony Santander, Addison Barger, Nathan Lukes, and Davis Schneider all expected to have significant playing time in the outfield, and if Tucker or Bellinger are added to the list, Straw will be watching most games from the bench. It won't be fair to him, and the Blue Jays will be paying him for nothing. He would be better suited on another team that can use him every game.
"This logjam could get even more complicated if the Blue Jays land Straw's close friend, Kyle Tucker, this offseason. Adding him would presumably mean Barger playing third base full-time, but even then, Straw would likely be relegated to a late-inning defensive substitution role."-Wrixon

A lot could change in a year, even Varsho is a free agent next season, so it could turn things in Straw's favour, but as of right now it does not appear he will remain with the Blue Jays in the 2027 season.
