Toronto Blue Jays chatter has Myles Straw labeled a center field trade candidate.

The uncomfortable part is the label, not the logic. A recent report roundup pulled from Bleacher Report «most available by position» idea has Straw sitting at the top of the center field pile, which is not exactly fan-friendly.
This is also how roster squeezes start. The Blue Jays have outfield bodies, younger options with options, and a front office that just watched a 94 win club fall one game short in the World Series, so every dollar and roster spot gets audited.
Straw's story in Toronto has been better than the first reaction to his arrival. He came over from Cleveland in a deal that also brought international bonus pool money, then played his way into real innings with steady defense and enough offense to survive. In 2025 he hit .262 with 4 homers, 32 RBIs, 12 steals, and a .680 OPS across 267 at bats.

Myles Straw trade buzz hits Toronto Blue Jays

I can already hear fans groaning about this because Straw became one of those easy guys to root for. He runs hard, catches everything, and the vibe in the dugout matters over 162, especially for a team trying to get back to October.
Still, the trade case writes itself when you look at the spreadsheet side. Straw turns 32 in October and is slated to make $7 million in 2026, with club options after that, and Toronto's outfield picture is crowded with higher-upside bats and cheaper depth.
On the field, the impact is pretty simple. If Straw goes, the Blue Jays lose a clean late-inning defensive answer in center, plus a real baserunning weapon off the bench. That pushes more pressure onto Daulton Varsho's health and whoever ends up in the fourth outfielder lane.
My take is Toronto should only move him if the return helps the pitching staff or upgrades a lineup spot, not just to clear a path. A glove-first center fielder who accepts his role is a luxury, and contenders usually realize that right around the first tight series in April.
