Possible trade offer from Chris Bassitt to the Chicago Cubs has peaked the interest of many fans
A mock trade has been making some noise online that involves Bassitt heading to the Cubs in exchange for quite a few solid prospects which would help the Blue Jays start to rebuild their farm system.
Trading Bassitt would also free up a spot in the Blue Jays starting rotation which would allow them some freedom to sign a new top tier starting pitcher which they have been rumored to be looking into.
Bassitt was solid in 2023 during his first season with the Blue Jays after signing in Toronto during the 2022 off-season as he put up a 3.60 ERA with a 16-8 record while striking out 186 batters.
In 2024, Bassitt's play declined a bit as he had a 4.16 ERA with a 10-14 record and 168 strikeouts but the real issue was his consistency since in some games he looked great while others he cost the team the game.
The Blue Jays need to look into trading him this off-season since he still holds some trade value and headed into the last year on his contract they should try and get something out of him while they still can.
