The Toronto Blue Jays have been looking at multiple options to bring in offense lately and for some reason that seems to always be connected to third basemen which is a problem for Ernie Clement.
The latest free agent rumors linked the Blue Jays to Yoan Moncada who is still looking for a deal and plays the same position as Clement.
Blue Jays still looking at replacing Ernie Clement
Moncada is the latest player that the Blue Jays have shown interest in but he is not the only third baseman that they have been linked to lately.
Per Francys Romero, the #BlueJays are among teams interested in 3B Yoan Moncada
The Blue Jays have also shown interest in free agent Alex Bregman who most consider an upgrade from Clement from an offensive and defensive standpoint but would also cost a lot more.
According to @JonHeyman the Blue Jay's biggest move «may be yet to come.»
Heyman said the Jays are «linked» to Kyle Tucker and are «considering either Bo Bichette or Alex Bregman.»
The reasoning behind why the Blue jays want to replace Clement is not very clear but it seems to be that they believe they can land an upgrade at third base this off-season.
While that is the position that Clement plays, they might be preparing to replace him at third and move him over to second if Bo Bichette ends up signing elsewhere.
Bregman would certain be great at third base but it is hard to argue that getting someone like Moncada would be an improvement over Clement who broke the record for most hits in an MLB postseason this past year.
