The Toronto Blue Jays have been facing a problem for a while now since acquiringShane Bieber at the trade deadline, they simply have too many starting pitchers in the rotation, unfortunately for Jose Berrios he is likely to be the odd man out and be demoted to the bullpen.

The Blue Jays recently sent Eric Lauer to the bullpen permanently but with how Berrios has been pitching there is a chance that this ends up changing.

Jose Berrios likely to lose spot in starting rotation for Blue Jays.

Jackson Roberts of Newsweek broke the news that insider Mitch Bannon of the Athletic stated Berrios will most likely be demoted.
"José Berrios, a two-time All-Star who is in the sixth season of a seven-year, $131 million contract, will get a postseason start until at least the Division Series, if at all."It's pretty clear, given recent rotation shuffling and second-half performance, Toronto's preferred playoff rotation will likely feature Shane Bieber, Kevin Gausman and Max Scherzer, with a fourth added for a potential Division Series," wrote Bannon."-Roberts

While Berrios has been a two-time All-Star in the past, he has nowhere near been that form, rather he has been battling consistency issues this season with some very low moments.
"Berrios, 31, has been a reliable innings-eater this year, but nowhere close to his peak. He's put up a 4.02 ERA in 28 starts and 154 2/3 innings, on pace for his lowest WAR since his disastrous 2022 season."-Roberts

"It's a credit to the Blue Jays that they're even in a position to deny such a respected veteran a spot in their playoff rotation. But it may be a tough pill to swallow for Berrios, who was memorably removed after just three innings in his first and only playoff start for Toronto in 2023."-Roberts

It is a luxury to have when there are too many starting pitchers on a team, no organization has ever complained about that.
Unfortunately for Berrios he will be the odd man out of an impressive rotation which will definitely affect his future with the team going forward.
