Ross Atkins confirms devastating update on Blue Jays Anthony Santander
The Toronto Blue Jays GM Ross Atkins had a press conference yesterday after the trade deadline answering many questions including some about Anthony Santander.
Blue Jays announce injury update on Anthony Santander
Santander has been out for quite some time and despite the team expecting him to return to the lineup before the all-star break, it looks like it will be much longer than expected.
Atkins told the media yesterday that his progress has been slower than they expected but adding that there has been some progress at the same time.
Ross Atkins on Anthony Santander: "The progress has been slower than we expected and what he expected, but there's progress"
As it is now August and Santander has yet to pick up a bat yet, if he does not begin swinging in the next few weeks, there is a good chance that his season is over as he prepares for 2026.
Many believe that the Blue Jays are to blame for poorly handling the Santander situation since he was been injured for a while before hitting IL and it looks like they tried to make him play through the pain which made things worse.
Hate to sound like a broken record... but man, can't understate how poorly #BlueJays handled Anthony Santander's shoulder injury.
The good news is that the Blue Jays have been great without Santander in the lineup which is why if they end up missing out on him for the rest of the season it is not the end of the world.
The bad news is that they paid a lot of money last off-season to acquire him and will still be stuck with him for another 4 years after this season.
This entire situation is far from what the front office and fan base expected when Santander was signed.
