The Toronto Blue Jays announced a massive roster move this evening ahead of their game against the Kansas City Royals as Chris Bassitt is placed on IL.
Blue Jays place Chris Bassitt on IL
Just ahead of the Blue Jays game against the Royals, the team announced that Bassitt has been placed on 15 day IL with lower back inflammation.
The team has decided to call up Mason Fluharty as his replacing but he will likely not see any time in the starting rotation and they will use him as depth in the bullpen.
ROSTER MOVES:
LHP Mason Fluharty recalled from Triple-A and will be active tonight

Chris Bassitt heading to IL with lower back tightness retroactive to yesterday, with lefty Mason Fluharty recalled.
This move is retroactive to yesterday which means that the earliest Bassitt can return to the Blue Jays lineup will be during the first week of the playoffs on Ocotber 5th.

This is quite the surprising injury to be announced as fans knew that Max Scherzer was dealing with a lower back injury but that has been nothing regarding Bassitt announced.
It will also be interesting to see if they decide to keep Berrios in the bullpen now or if they bring him back to the starting rotation.
