The Toronto Blue Jays ended up letting Ryan Yarbrough go right before the season and he landed with the New York Yankees where he has been making the Blue Jays look extremely foolish for letting him go.
The Blue Jays granted Yarbrough a release right before the season as he triggered an opt-out clause in his contract which made him a free agent which led him to signing with the Yankees.
Instead, the 33-year-old was granted his release shortly after triggering the opt-out clause in his contract, making him a free agent. -Hall

The Blue Jays have been dealing with all kind of injuries this season from their starting rotation to their bullpen which is why keeping Yarbrough would have been the smart decision given how things have gone.
Yarbrough came in as a reliever for the Yankees but at the start of the month transitioned to a starting pitcher and has been dominant for the Yankees especially in his last few starts.
Yarbrough's first start with the Bronx Bombers wasn't anything special. He walked three over four innings but only allowed a run on one hit while striking out a pair. His next time out was more of the same, tossing five innings of two-run ball on six hits and a walk with two punchouts. The last two, though, have been nothing short of dominant. -Hall
The Blue Jays who currently have been looking for a solid replacement for Max Scherzer who has been out since the start of the season would love to have kept Yarbrough with how he has looked so far as a starting pitcher.
So far this season, Yarbrough has a 3.06 ERA in New York to go along with a 2-0 record and 35 strikeouts in a total of 35.1 innings pitched.
There is no debate that Yarbrough has been proving this season how big of a mistake Ross Atkins made by letting him go but at the end of the day, this is one out of a long list of mistakes Atkins made in the off-season.
