Special announcement made regarding Blue Jays legend Edwin Encarnacion
Former Toronto Blue Jays legend Edwin Encarnacion received some pretty incredible news yesterday as he will be inducted into the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame.
Last December, former Blue Jay Dave Parker was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the class of 2025.
Former Blue Jays Edwin Encarnacion is getting inducted into the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame
News broke recently that Encarnacion will be inducted into the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame and he spoke on the incredible honor.
Encarnacion stated that he was surprised regarding the news since he feels like he just retired yesterday and this news makes him feel a bit old.
The former Blue Jays also stated that of all the teams he played for in the MLB, the Blue Jays was the team he always felt the best with and added that he is extremely grateful to all their fans.
Edwin Encarnación on his election to the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame: "I felt a little bit like an adult, not to say old. It was a tremendous surprise. It surprised me quite a bit. I feel like I retired yesterday. Of all the teams I played with in the MLB, the #BlueJays was the one I felt the best with. I am very grateful to their fans. I always received a very good treatment from them. I will be eternally grateful".
From 2009 to 2016 Encarnacion played for the Blue Jays will a couple very memorable runs in which his best season came in 2016 when he finished with 42 homeruns and 127 RBIs.
Encarnacion was known as quite the slugger back in his day as he finished with 10 seasons with 20+ homeruns in which 6 of those years came with the Blue Jays.
It has been 5 years now since Encarnacion retired and 9 years since he last played in Toronto but he is still a fan favorite in the city all these years later.
