Athletics sign Michael Stefanic
The Athletics announced this morning that they reached an agreement on a Minor league contract with Stefanic which includes a major league, spring training, invitation.
The Athletics are in agreement on a minor league deal with an invite to MLB Spring Training with IF Michael Stefanic, per source.
Stefanic, 29, has played in the big leagues each of the last four seasons, for the Blue Jays and Angels.
Stefanic, 29, has played in the big leagues each of the last four seasons, for the Blue Jays and Angels.
Stefanic played for the Blue Jays last season as he was signed after being released by the Los Angeles Angels.
In 2025, Stefanic would end up playing nine games for the Blue Jays as he spent the majority of his time with the organization in the minors. He then elected free agency at the end of the season.
Stefanic has seen time in the MLB in every season since 2022 but has failed in all four seasons to secure himself a stable spot in the lineup.
The Athletics are hoping that Stefanic could finally make that jump to the major league level this season as a full-time player, but if he is unable to crack their lineup, then he will be a great depth player for the minor league team.
It will be interesting to see how Stefanic does in spring training in a few months, and if he has improved his game enough to make the opening day roster.
