The Toronto Blue Jays and GM Ross Atkins have been getting busy with the trade deadline approaching as they just traded for Shane Bieber from the Cleveland Guardians.
Blue Jays complete a trade for Shane Bieber from the Guardians
The Blue Jays have just completed a trade with the Guardians for Shane Bieber in exchange for one of their top pitching prospects Khal Stephens who has been on fire this season.
Shane Bieber is massive risk/reward. Little nerve wracking any time a pitcher is coming back from Tommy John.
Wonder if the Jays have an eye on 2026, as well, with that player option for $16M?
The Toronto Blue Jays are finalizing a trade to acquire right-hander Shane Bieber from the Cleveland Guardians, sources tell ESPN. The Jays have been looking for another starter, and they get one in the former AL Cy Young winner. On the news: @jonmorosi
This is exactly the big type of move fans in Toronto were hoping for from Atkins as Bieber is the type of player that can really fully turn things around for Toronto.
The return was simply a one for one which is an incredible move by Atkins to get Bieber in return for only one top prospect even though it is a very good one.
The old 1-for-1 trade. But man, Khal Stephen is quite the price to pay for a veteran SP coming off Tommy John surgery -- even if he is likely to return in 2026. #BlueJays
