The Toronto Blue Jays and Bo Bichette are continuing to work on a plan to come together and re-sign the star infielder, but their AL East rival Boston Rex Sox want in on the action and are interested in his services.

The Blue Jays are still considered the favorites to land Bichette as most expect both parties to want to get a deal done but it looks like there is some serious competition.

Rival Red Sox after Bo Bichette.

Aaliyan Mohammed of Newsweek reported on the growing interest the Red Sox have in Bichette.
However, not all the details make sense, because even if they lose Bregman, Trevor Story is their shortstop, meaning one of them has to move to second base.
"Bichette is the best shortstop on the open market, but his market should extend beyond teams that need a shortstop. Already a strong defender at the position, a move to third base or second base is not out of the question for the two-time All-Star. The Red Sox expect Trevor Story to be the shortstop again next season. There's no doubt that he would be an upgrade over their current options at second base, but it would put the team in a tough spot with Kristian Campbell."-Mohammed

Bichette isn't the best shortstop to begin with, he would prove to be more useful at second base, and his bat will earn him his contract. Bichette was the AL leader in hits last season, and even on one knee he was one of the most effective players for the Blue Jays in the World Series.
"The Red Sox's interest in Bichette is certainly interesting. However, at its core, it is simply the Red Sox looking at all ways to add an impact bat. The Blue Jays have already spent big this winter and are reportedly pursuing Kyle Tucker. Bichette may not be in the budget when it's all said and done, and the Red Sox could steal him."-Mohammed

Bichette's fate ultimately depends on what the Blue Jays do with Kyle Tucker, if they don't sign him, there is almost no doubt the Blue Jays sign Bichette. If they do acquire Tucker, all bets are off, and it becomes more likely that Bichette is in a different jersey next season.
