The Toronto Blue Jays and pitcher Jose Berrios seem to be in a bad spot due to when he was moved to the bullpen which might result in him leaving Toronto.

During a recent press conference, Ross Atkins revealed that Berrios was not happy when the team decided to move him to the bullpen at the end of last season.

Jose Berrios recent tantrum might be lead to his exit

The Blue Jays current relationship with Berrios is certainly not in a good place due to how unhappy he was being moved to the bullpen last season plus all of the trade rumors surrounding him this off-season.
MLB insider Keegan Matheson also revealed that Berrios did not end up pitching in the playoffs last year because he did not want to go to the bullpen and decided to step away from the team instead.
According to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com, Berrios was unwilling to pitch out of the bullpen in October, and ultimately stepped away from the team during their attempt to win a championship. -Glick

The Blue Jays are known for having incredible team chemistry as everyone in their clubhouse is willing to do whatever it takes to win but it seems like Berrios does not fit into this narrative.
José Berrios was unhappy with being bumped from the #BlueJays' rotation and eventually chose to be away from the team during the World Series.

Story with comments from Ross Atkins, who still wants and expects Berrios to be part of the 2026 rotation:
Due to this attitude and a serious log jam in the starting rotation, it looks like there is a good chance that the Blue Jays do whatever it takes to get him out of Toronto despite rumors that they will try to make things work.
Berrios has been great for the Blue Jays over the last few years but his numbers have since declined and moving him even if they have to retain some salary seems to be the better choice for the organization.
