The Boston Red Sox expected package for Rafael Devers from the Toronto Blue Jays revealed
The Boston Red Sox traded Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants but according to reports, the Toronto Blue Jays actually had a shot at landing him but were not willing to agree with what they wanted.
The Blue Jays are looking to bring in at least a few players at the trade deadline this year and Devers would have been the perfect addition but it looks like the Giants were more serious about getting a deal done.
Red Sox expected big package from the Blue Jays for Rafael Devers
The Giants ended up landing Devers and shocking the baseball world a couple days ago but it looks like the Atlanta Braves, San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays were also all interested in the slugger.
The Braves, Padres, and Blue Jays inquired about Rafael Devers' availability, but weren't as motivated as the Giants.
According to reports, the Red Sox were looking for a package that involved pitcher Jose Berrios if Toronto wanted to land Devers but it looks like they thought that was too big of a return.

The Blue Jays also wanted the Red Sox to retain some of Devers salary which ended up being too big of an ask for Boston.
As reported by others. Toronto also wanted Boston to eat some of the contract.
While Berrios has been a big part of the Blue Jays starting rotation this season, it is hard to see why they would not be willing to trade him for a superstar like Devers.
