The Storehouse Bar and Grill in Canada's most northern city Iqaluit, is supporting the Toronto Blue Jays from miles away, as they play in their first World Series in 30 years against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
All of Canada is supporting the Blue Jays, no matter how north.
Matt Monagan of MLB.com reported on how a city of only 8000 people is supporting it's nation's team from thousands of kilometres away. The bar can hold up to 215 people which is almost 2% of the only city in Nunavut's territory.
"Although the residents of Iqaluit have spotty cell service, a climate that's more fit for polar bears and almost total darkness for much of the winter -- they do, during these late, exceedingly exciting October nights, have their pennant-winning Blue Jays."-Monagan
It goes to show just how far the Blue Jays reach is this year for the World Series, even many markets in the U.S are supporting them to beat the Dodgers. It's been a great story as last year the Blue Jays were dead last, to come all the way to the World Series. And they are playing a Dodgers team that has spent $100M more on players than the Blue Jays.
"For the majority of the year, Iqaluit - the capital and only city in Canada's Nunavut Territory - is a place where indigenous communities in the north come to visit. They travel down south for vacation, to eat at a restaurant or to, well, see people. And there's a good chance they'll pass through and get a drink at The Storehouse Bar, a 22-year-old pub attached to the local Frobisher Inn."-Monagan
The Blue Jays will look to take a 2-1 series lead against the Dodgers Monday night in Los Angeles, and you can it's a guarantee the Storehouse Bar and Grill will be a full house cheering them on.
