The Seattle Mariners just announced the size of their deal with Canadian all-star Josh Naylor and fans believe that the deal is making the Toronto Blue Jays look bad.

It has been almost a month since the end of the World Series yet the Blue Jays have yet to announce their first signing of the off-season despite a lot of interest among multiple free agents.

Mariners make the Blue Jays look bad with Josh Naylor deal

The Mariners announced two days ago that they agreed to a five year deal with Naylor and the actually size of the contract was finally revealed last night.
Naylz is BACK.

We've signed 1B Josh Naylor to a five-year contract through the 2030 season. #TridentsUp
Naylor signed with the Mariners for $92.5 million on a five year deal which gives him an average salary of $18.5 million per season which is the exact same contract Ross Atkins gave to Anthony Santander last off-season.
The Seattle Mariners re-signed 1B Josh Naylor to a 5 Year, $92.5 Million contract.
Blue Jays fans could not believe that the Mariners were able to lock down Naylor for only $92.5 million when they paid the same for Santander last year.
That's it??
The biggest issue with the Santander deal is that he struggled a lot at the plate this past season and missed a lot of time due to injuries while Naylor was on fire for both the Diamondbacks and Mariners.
In terms of total dollar value, this is the exact same deal Anthony Santander received from the #BlueJays last off-season.

Feels like a big win for the #Mariners at that price point.

Jays certainly hopeful Santander will get back to being a big-time slugger in 2026.
Hopefully Santander is able to get back to the way he was in 2024 next season but as of right now, this Mariners deal certainly looks a lot better than the Blue Jays deal.
