The Toronto Blue Jays cannot seem to get rid of the injury bug lately but at least some players are finally coming back as outfielder Daulton Varsho is set to return soon.
Blue Jays announce injury update regarding outfielder Daulton Varsho
The Blue Jays placed Varsho on IL on June 1st along with another long list of roster moves due to a left hamstring injury in which was supposed to be a 10 day IL stint but ended up being quite a bit longer.
ROSTER MOVES:
UTIL Davis Schneider recalled from Triple-A and will be active today
OF Daulton Varsho (left hamstring strain) placed on the 10-day IL
RHP Erik Swanson reinstated from 60-day IL and will be active today
Varsho seems to be progressing very well as he is expected to make his reutrn to the lineup early/mid next week which means he will likely come back to face the Cleveland Guardians.
#BlueJays injury updates:
- Varsho (hamstring) should be in games early/mid next week - Garcia (shoulder) will likely pitch in a game Monday - Francis (shoulder) had a cortisone injection and won't throw for a few days - Santander (shoulder) still isn't hitting
The Blue Jays also announced that Yimi Garcia is set to pitcher in a rehab game on Monday, Bowden Francis received a cortisone shot in his shoulder and Anthony Santander is still not hitting.
Since the Blue Jays are still dealing with quite a few injuries in the outfield, getting Varsho back will be a huge plus for them but they will need to figure out who they will drop to make room on the roster.
