Blue Jays announce first roster move since the trade deadline
The first roster move for Toronto since the trade deadline has been announced as they have assigned
Valenzuela to Triple-A with the Buffalo Bisons as it will be his first time playing at that level.
Shane Bieber will be at Rogers Centre tomorrow and Blue Jays will sit down with him to determine where/when he makes his next rehab start.
Meanwhile, catcher Brandon Valenzuela is slated for AAA per Ross Atkins.
Valenzuela has been having a very solid season in Double-A as he currently has a .229 batting average along with 12 homeruns and a .700 OPS in 87 games.
Valenzuela in AA ball this year hit .229 with a .700 OPS and 12 HRs in 87 games.
Got to think there's more to this considering we traded for Wagner last year right?
This move is likely do to the fact that Ali Sanchez is still currently with the Blue Jays as Alejandro Kirk continues to recover from his concussions but it will be interesting to see how Toronto's new catcher does in Triple-A.
While the trade of Wagner for Valenzuela was mostly to clear up roster room, this was also a great move for the Blue Jays minor league catcher depth since they have so little of it.
