Welcome to our Blue Jays family!
We have acquired infielder Will Wagner from the Toronto Blue Jays in exchange for catcher Brandon Valenzuela.
Since
Valenzuela is currently a minor league player in Double-A, many believe that this move was made to clear up room on the Blue Jays current 40 man roster.
Brandon Valenzuela isn't on the Padres' 40-man, so moving Will Wagner here creates a 40-man spot while adding some catching depth. Padres added Fermin earlier so they had catching to spare.
This looks like another move will likely be coming in soon before the trade deadline hits at 6 PM.
