The Blue Jays have yet to offer
Guerrero over $400 million as their first offer was almost $100 million off from his minimum asking price but it looks like they are finally ready to get serious.
The Blue Jays are apparently planning on making Vladimir Guerrero Jr an offer at $480 million
According to reports, the Blue Jays are currently putting together a offer to Guerrero that will be worth $480 million but the exact term has yet to be announced but it will likely be in the range of 10-15 years.
SOURCES: The Blue Jays are prepping to make another offer to Vlad Guerrero Jr. at $480m
If the Blue Jays are able to sign Guerrero to a contract on a 12 year term, that would pay him $37.5 million per season which seems like a fair price since he would likely get a bigger contract than that in free agency.
While there have been a ton of rumors that Guerrero might end up testing free agency next off-season and would rather hold off on signing a deal this close to Spring Training, it will be hard for him to turn down a $480 million.
This will likely be the Blue Jays final attempt at trying to keep Guerrero here long term and if he refuses this deal, they will probably start to look into trading him since it is not worth losing him for nothing in free agency.
Fans are praying that Ross Atkins can figure out a way to get this deal done because losing the face of the franchise would destroy the fanbase.
