The Toronto Blue Jays have been dealing with a ton of injuries in their bullpen lately which is why they are looking to bring in so new pitchers to help out.
The Blue Jays have both Erik Swanson and Ryan Burr currently out for the moment and with no timetable for a return, most are expecting both pitchers to miss the start of the season.
On Friday, On Monday, it was reported by MLB.com's Keegan Matheson that Erik Swanson will meet Dr. Keith Meister on Thursday. That's not a good sign. -Delaney
Blue Jays looking to close a deal with relief pitcher Craig Kimbrel
The Blue Jays have already signed Dillon Tate to a one year deal but they might need to bring on a second pitcher which is why Craig Kimbrel who is still a free agent could be a realistic option.
Kimbrel had a tough season in Baltimore last year finishing with a 5.33 ERA which statistically was the worst season of his career but that does not mean he would be a bad option for the Blue Jays.
Kimbrel's season with the Baltimore Orioles in 2024 wasn't great, finishing with a career-worst (minimum of 30 innings pitched) 5.33 ERA and a 4.18 FIP in 52.1 innings pitched. -Delaney
Over the last decade, Kimbrel has been one of the best closers in the MLB as he been voted an all-star nine times while also winning countless other awards such as reliever of the year, twice.
At one point, Craig Kimbrel was one of the best closers in the game. In 2017 with the Boston Red Sox, Kimbrel posted an incredible 1.43 ERA and a 1.42 FIP in 69 innings pitched with a 49.6 K% and a 5.5 BB%. -Delaney
Since Kimbrel is still a free agent, the Blue Jays could possibly lock him down on a one year deal similar to the money they are paying Tate which could be a great deal, especially if he ends up returning to his old form.
Regardless of who they go after, the smart move for the Blue Jays would be to go after at least one more relief pitcher before the start of the season.
