The Toronto Blue Jays are still looking to make some moves this off-season and they could look adding to their bullpen by trading for Miami Marlins relief pitcher Andrew Nardi.
The Blue Jays could look to close a trade with the Marlins for Andrew Nardi
The Blue Jays have done a ton to turn their bullpen around this off-season by adding Nick Sandlin, Jeff Hoffman and bringing back Yimi Garcia but there is still room for improvement.
According to MLB reporter Jim Reuter, the Blue Jays could be interested in trading for Miami Marlins relief pitcher Andrew Nardi in exchange for one of their prospect pitchers, Fernando Perez.
The Blue Jays have already pulled off one blockbuster trade by trading for Andes Giménez. While proposing hypothetical trade packages, Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter proposed this trade between the Miami Marlins and Blue Jays that would bring Andrew Nardi to Toronto:
Blue Jays receive: left-handed pitcher Andrew Nardi Marlins receive: right-handed pitcher Fernando Perez -Mohammed
Nardi is coming off a rough season in 2024 with the Marlins as he finished with a 5.07 ERA in 59 appearances but had a great year in 2023 finishing with a 2.67 ERA in 63 games.
"The 26-year-old has spent the last three seasons pitching in a setup role for the Miami Marlins, and while his 5.07 ERA in 59 appearances last season does not jump off the page, a closer look at his numbers reveals some intriguing potential," Reuter wrote of Nardi. "That bloated ERA was accompanied by a far more encouraging 3.33 FIP, and he is just a year removed from logging a 2.67 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over 63 games." -Reuter
If the Blue Jays could land Nardi in exchange for Perez, this would be a risk worth taking since it could be a massive pay off if Nardi is able to return to his 2023 form.
