The Toronto Blue Jays have just announced that they have agreed on a trade with the Cleveland Guardians for Gold Glove winning centerfielder Myles Straw.

This is the second move for the Blue Jays in 2025 as the first came when they signed pitcher Jeff Hoffman last week to a three year deal worth $33 million.

The Blue Jays just announced that they have closed a trade with the Cleveland Guardians in exchange for centerfielder Myles Straw, international bonus pool space but the return player has yet to be announced.

OFFICIAL: We've acquired OF Myles Straw, cash, and international bonus signing pool space for the 2025 period from the Guardians in exchange for a player to be named later or cash.

Straw won the Gold Glove Award in 2022.
Blue Jays have acquired international cap space plus Myles Straw and cash in a trade with Cleveland for a PTBNL or cash.

To be clear, this does not mean that Roki Sasaki has made up his mind or given the Blue Jays any indication as to his choice.

According to MLB insider Ben Nicholson-Smith, the Blue Jays have acquired an additional $2 million in international cap space that they will be able to use towards Roki Sasaki.

the Blue Jays are getting $2 million in international cap space in their trade with CLE.

Again, this does not mean Roki Sasaki has made a decision, but Jays clearly prepping in case he chooses them.

This is a huge move for the Blue Jays since it will now give them access to more money to offer Sasaki and try to persuade him to sign in Toronto.

Adding Straw to their outfield will be interesting since he has shown promise in the past but had a rough season in 2024.
