The Blue Jays might have found their solution to replace Jordan Romano next season
Letting go of Romano has freed up some available money for the Blue Jays which has now allowed them to seriously look at some of the best relief pitchers available such as Tanner Scott and Carlos Estevez.
Scott is arguably the best bullpen pitcher on the market as he had an unbelievable season last year with the San Diego Padres with a 1.75 ERA and would surely become the team's main closer if signed.
Tanner Scott tops the bullpen market in free agency, fresh off a 1.75 ERA between the Marlins and Padres with the ability to close games. There's a strong case for the Blue Jays to make one big-name signing in the bullpen and then surround that player with several depth moves, and Scott could be worth the significant multiyear investment at 30. -Matheson
Estevez is another great option as he is coming off a great season in 2024 split between the Los Angeles Angels and Philadelphia Phillies in which had a 2.45 ERA to go along with a 4-5 record.
Carlos Estévez is another option, with 82 career saves and a 3.22 ERA since getting out of Colorado two seasons ago, though he's not as overpowering as many relievers on the market.
Former Yankees closer Clay Holmes and his 74 career saves is another option, while Kirby Yates, Jeff Hoffman, Kenley Jansen and old friend Yimi Garcia are also available. -Matheson
While Romano was a liability last season due to his poor play and injury, the Blue Jays will still feel losing him next season if they do not find a solid replacement.
