Most mock draft saw
Parker going 9th overall which is quite close to the 8th pick which he was selected but that is not the reason this was a surprising pick for the Blue Jays.
Toronto already has Arjun Nimmla in their system who is one of their top prospect and will surely end up being Bo Bichette's replacement down the road which is why taking another shortstop 8th overall is interesting.
While it is an interesting pick,
Parker is clearly a solid player as he has great bat speed and power while also being a solid defender with a very good arm with his biggest weakness being his foot speed.
This was overall a solid choice by the Blue Jays but still a surprising one at that.
