The rumor mill is spinning, and one name keeps popping up that should make every Blue Jays fan sit up and take notice: Isaac Paredes.

The Houston Astros are reportedly open to moving the 26-year-old infielder to clear their logjam, and the fit in Toronto is almost too perfect to ignore.
We’ve been screaming for a power bat who can actually take advantage of the Rogers Centre's dimensions, and Paredes (Signed as Int'l FA, 2015 by Cubs) is practically built in a lab to do exactly that.
He isn't just a good hitter; he is the "Pull King."
Paredes has made a living yanking fly balls down the left-field line—a strategy that would turn into an absolute feast in our ballpark.
With 20 homers in 2025 and 92 over the last four seasons, he provides the thump this lineup has been missing since some of our bigger bats departed.
He’s under team control through 2027, making him more than just a rental; he’s a legitimate piece of the core.
But here is the kicker: he actually walks.
His plate discipline is elite, consistently ranking in the top percentiles for walk rate while refusing to chase bad pitches.
Imagine that profile sandwiched between Vladdy and our other boppers. It’s a nightmare for opposing pitchers.
The Blue Jays have been looking at a few options to bring in a new infielder but have unfortunately have failed so far which is why Parades could be an interesting option.

A deal that hurts but helps

To get talent, you have to give it up.
A realistic package likely starts with a young, controllable arm or an outfielder, given Houston's needs.
We could see a deal centered around a prospect like OF Davis Schneider and perhaps a package involving RHP Yariel Rodriguez to give Houston immediate pitching depth.
If the Red Sox or Brewers get him first, we’ll be watching those pulled fly balls land in the Monster seats or the bleachers in Milwaukee instead of the Flight Deck.
Ross Atkins needs to pick up the phone now.

Should the Blue Jays trade a top-10 prospect to acquire Isaac Paredes?
